PEORIA, Ill.– For the second year in a row Peoria has moved up on Midwest Startups 2019 Best of the Midwest: Startup Cities Rankings.
The list is calculated based on the amount of startup activity in a city, a startups access to resources and the business climate of a city. Over the last two years Peoria has gone from rank 45 to 36.
Michael Freilinger, President of the Downtown Development Corporation of Peoria was very pleased to hear about Peoria increase in rank.
“The news about Peoria become even more desirable place for technology does not surprise me,” Freilinger said.
Freilinger said he believe development in the downtown and warehouse district help make Peoria a more welcoming community for tech startups.
Reuben Cummings, President of one tech startup Nerevu Group, says he expects Peoria to continue to get better for start ups.
“I feel like with a lot of the changes that are happening and investment that are being made, that over time Peoria is definitely going to become even more of a destination for tech startups,” Cummings said.
