Running with the Dogs is an annual fundraiser hosted by Paws Giving Independence. This 5k run/3k walk is our biggest fundraiser. The funds that we raise through this event will help us continue to place service dogs free of charge each year.

Come join us on September 29, 2018 at Junction City, in Peoria, IL. We will start registration and pick up at 8 am. The 5k race will begin at 9 am. Shortly after will be the 3k walk, at about 9:20 am. Ending around 11 am, we will announce top finishers and conclude the event.

We will have vendors and sponsors present who support us through the year. Donations and funds are put towards the vet bills to ensure the health of our dogs, equipment for adequate handling like vests and harnesses, and any other expenses incurred throughout the training process. PGI places each of our dogs without costs to the recipient families. Your participation and donation to the Running with the Dogs event will help us achieve this ongoing goal.

This year is particularly special-it’s our 10 year anniversary. In 2008, PGI was started by two Bradley University students who are still the foundation of our organization. To celebrate, our theme will be “The Year of the Dog” which also corresponds to the Chinese lunar calendar. As always, there will be a costume contest, raffle prizes, and vendors. The first three finishers, people and dogs, will also receive PGI medals.
