Crab Dip Recipe for Your Party

Central Illinois Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Media Spokesperson and OSF Registered Dietitian Ashley Simper stopped by Good Day Central Illinois Friday morning to help us get ready for your football party this weekend. Here’s her crab dip recipe for your weekend.

 

Creamy Crab Dip

Get to dippin’ at your football festivities and start making

heart healthy choices during American Heart month!

 

Ingredients

Dip

3 – 6 ounce cans fancy lumb crabmeat, drained and rinsed

8 ounce block 1/3 less fat/Neufchatel cream cheese, softened

¼ cup light mayonnaise

¼ cup light sour cream

Topping

¾ avocado, seeded and diced

¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro

Juice of ½ lime

 

 

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/3 cup chopped bell pepper

¼ cup chopped green onion

1 teaspoon chili powder

¾ teaspoon ground cumin

¼ teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix all dip ingredients in medium bowl.  Pour into pie pan and bake for 20 minutes.
  3. Top with avocado, cilantro and lime juice.
  4. Serve with whole grain crackers or baked tortilla chips.
