PEORIA, Ill — Kids at Trewyn Middle School will now be able to hit the fields and play ball.
When students were moved from Manual into Trewyn, district leaders ran into a problem. The school didn’t have the necessary gear for all the seventh and eighth graders. Director of Athletics, AJ Guyton says the public stepped up and donated much needed sports supplies.
“I think people forget that communities, the supporter communities are what drives our children. If we don’t have community members at the games, we don’t have community members involved in the process, then kids lose a little bit of interest, some kids aren’t as motivated, so we need all those motivating factors to drive our sports program,” said Guyton.
Guyton says they are no longer actively seeking baseball supplies but are always open to donations.
