Looking at Josie Dickinson, you’d never know she had to fight for her life on day one.
“She was actually born not breathing and had to be resuscitated at birth,” says mom Lindsey Dickinson.
Lindsey delivered Josie and her twin brother, Hendrix at 33 weeks. Josie had an issue with her umbilical cord. The twins were at Children’s Hospital of Illinois for a month.
“Honestly the staff over there took such great care of us,” says Lindsey. “They made sure we understood everything, even with all of the medical terminology… They took great care of us and made sure we were all ready to be parents when we got home.”
Lindsey credits Children’s Hospital of Illinois with saving Josie’s life after an ideal no parent can prepare for.
“I don’t wish that experience upon anyone but if anybody has to go through that I really hope they go to the Children’s Hospital in Peoria.”
The special care the Dickinson family got wouldn’t be possible without generous donations from people in the community. Children’s Hospital of Illinois’ annual Radiothon is coming up December 8th and 9th. John Riley from 93.3 The Drive will broadcast from the Children’s Hospital live from 6:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. those days. You can make a contribution in-person or over the phone by calling (309) 624-GIVE. All proceeds are used to serve the needs of pediatric patients.
