Inaugural cops, cars and kids event in Levee District aims to educate youth

EAST PERORIA, Ill.– Families can get a close-up look at emergency equipment and meet first responders at Tazewell County Cops, Cars and Kids, a new event occurring from 4 until 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24 along West Washington Street in The Levee District.

The event will feature police squad cars and motorcycles, fire trucks, boats and kids’ activities. A K9 demonstration will occur at 5:30 p.m. in Levee Park near the Fondulac District Library, and the library will also have a story time at 6 p.m. with superheroes including Batman. Wrought Iron Gym will set up a children’s obstacle course, and refreshments will be available from Kona Ice.

Participating agencies include East Peoria Police Department, East Peoria Fire Department, Fon du Lac Park District Police, U.S. Coast Guard, Creve Coeur Police Department, Washington Police Department, Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department and Caterpillar Inc.

The East Peoria Police Department is organizing the event.

Admission is free.
