Shaun Livingston returned to his hometown Sunday for the grand opening of the renovated gymnasium at his elementary school, Concordia Lutheran in Peoria.
The Golden State Warriors guard donated $1 million to the project last fall. The expansion and renovation of the Cougars’ was years in the making, and Livingston’s gift made it a reality.
“This day is more important than any basketball game to me,” Livingston said. “To be able to do stuff like this, to see how far you’ve come, and then to be able to bless others, is more than I can do on the court.”
Livingston returned to Peoria between Friday’s Warriors game in Milwaukee and Monday’s game in Indianapolis.
