PEORIA, Ill. - A Peoria coffee shop dedicated today to a special girl who passed away Saturday afternoon. The Spot Coffee Shop called it "A Day for Kennedie" and they invited the community over to help raise money for the grieving Metamora family.
"The community just never ceases to amaze me," said Sara Skolaski, owner of the coffee shop. "They just continue to come in and support us and the things we are doing. I knew once I made the event live on facebook the community would come in and support us and the family."
Kennedie Vote was driving to church when her car was struck by another vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Since then her family has been trying to plan arrangements for their beloved daughter. The Spot stepped up today and a portion of the collected revenue will go to help the family.
"It's been just an overwhelming an amazing day today," said Skolaski. "The crowds have been awesome, donations are just coming in rampidly so we are very, very grateful."
