SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — A fallen Marine from Tremont, who gave his life for our country was honored in Springfield.
During Memorial Day proceedings the Illinois House of Representatives adopted house resolution 367 honoring the life and service of Tremont native and U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Daniel Baker.
Baker died in December when his plane crashed into another during a refueling mission over the sea of Japan.
“According to stories I’ve read about Daniel, he loved serving his country as a marine and appreciated the opportunity afforded to him to see the world,” said Tim Butler (R) Springfield. “He was well liked by all who knew him for being an encouraging, positive and outgoing guy.”
Baker was one of 6 people in the crash to die from the accident. He was only 21.
