PEORIA, Ill. — Students and advocate groups are speaking out about the effects of climate change.
The groups assembled at the Peoria County Courthouse to call attention to the dangers of a changing climate. People there say they’re concerned about climate change. They also want to inform everyone about the continued use of fossil fuels.
Groups are also out to support government workers that are affected by changing environmental conditions.
Alyssa McMillen from Change Peoria hopes today’s efforts will encourage others to take a stand.
“Hopefully, quite a few people will get inspired to speak themselves. I think it’s important that the common man gets his voice heard, his and her voice heard today and every day, from here on out,” said McMillen.
The courthouse centered event Friday was one of two local climate change rallies.
