A local family is mourning the loss of their son, a Marine who was killed in a motorcycle crash in Maryland.
LCpl James Ray Walden III, known by “Jimmie” to friends and family was serving in the Marines stationed at FT. Meade. He was driving his motorcycle Friday when a driver lost control of his car and crossed into Walden’s lane.
Walden, a graduate of Peoria Heights High School was known for his academics, scoring a 96 out of a 99 on the entrance exam to the Marine Corps.
Following in his father’s footsteps, the two shared an unbreakable bond.
“Marine Corp is my family, Band of Brothers and we take that very seriously and for me to be able to call him by brother meant a big deal,” James Walden II said of his son.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced for LCpl Walden, he was 21 years old.
