All locations of Peoria Public Library will be closed for two days beginning Tuesday and ending Wednesday, due to construction at Main Library.
All phone and internet services originate at the Main Library downtown on Monroe and Main Library, branch libraries and the Bookmobile will not be able to operate. The electrical shutdown is due to construction of an all new heating and air conditioning system at Main Library that replaces the original 1960’s system. The construction began in September and is expected to finish this week.
Patrons will not be charged late fees for overdue books, however outside drop boxes are available at all locations. The drop box at Main Library may be blocked at times due to the construction.
Power will be cut to the Main Library building while Ameren moves a main electrical panel from inside the building to a new exterior housing built for it, a design now required by law.
All locations will resume regular hours on Thursday.
