Peoria, Ill - One business is hoping to keep local residents comfortable and safe during the hot summer months.
Ameren Illinois donated 100 window air conditioning units to the Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity.
Over the course of the summer, PCCEO will give away air conditions to those who meet income-eligibility requirements, AS Well as seniors, veterans and those with disabilities.
Richard Mark, president of Ameren Illinois said"heat is really a health issue. Cause many people, especially senior citizens, people with certain disabilities or on certain medications, hot days or being in the house can really jeopardize their health. And we feel that giving these air conditioners out is a way of giving back to the community”
For each air conditioner they donate, Ameren is also giving a home energy efficiency kit that comes with led light bulbs, two sink aerators, a smart power strip and a low flow showerhead.
