PEORIA, Ill. -- Some Peoria citizens are getting new AC units thanks to donations by Ameren Illinois.
Their mission is to help to keep families cool this summer. Ameren Illinois is donating a total of 500 window conditioners across Central Illinois. They donated a total of 75 conditioners to the Salvation Army and the Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity. These were distributed Friday morning.
"We procure them, and we make sure that they are high efficiency units. These are ENERGY star rated. It's important to us to help our customers to continue to offer savings, so we know that these units not run up their energy bills," said Stacey Young, Community Relations Supervisor, Ameren Illinois.
These two organizations will be distributing any remaining AC's throughout the summer to low income families, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities.
