Ameren Illinois is now using drones that could help get your power back on quicker after an outage.
From observing damage after a storm to surveying terrain and inspecting thousands of miles of poles, power lines and natural gas facilities, Ameren says the drones will provide a safe and effective way to pinpoint where crews should be dispatched to perform.
“It’s way safer to have this thing up in the air. Flying it, getting a visual picture rather than having our guys trace through an unknown ground. When he have crops on the ground, you don’t know if we have potholes or wash-ways,” said Kyle Maxwell of Ameren.
Ameren currently has 36 drones throughout the state of Illinois.
