An astrophysicist inspires kids in tech at the Peoria Riverfront Museum

PEORIA, Ill. — Friday, an astrophysicist and distinguished research professor spoke to kids interested in making a difference in the world through tech.

Manual Academy Robotics team and other kids in district 150 listened to Hakeem Oluseyi.

“I want them to take away the person who is exactly like them can do these sorts of things and be successful,” Oluseyi said.

“It inspires me a lot to see someone of my race someone of my color to be doing something so amazing,” Kirsten Polk, Manual Academy Robotics team member said.

Saturday, the robotics team will be at a kick-off event to find out the game they’ll play in the first tech challenge competition.
