PEORIA, Ill. - IDOT workers are doing patchwork along Knoxville Avenue in Peoria.
During construction, crews uncovered some interesting items linked to Peoria's past.
Bricks, rail ties, and rail lines were found, revealing a glimpse back to the turn of the 20th century when streetcars lined that area.
"It represents a part of Peoria's plan and the history behind it, why it was there in the first place and it elicits memories of the part of people who still remember when the streetcars ran up and down Knoxville," says Christopher Farris, reference assistant at Peoria Public Library.
