Animal lovers find their ‘fur’ever friends at PCAPS

PEORIA, Ill. — Animal lovers in Peoria took home their ‘fur’ever friends today, for no cost.

Peoria County Animal Protection Services held a clear the shelter event on Saturday.

The event waived the adoption fee for cats and dogs.

Normally, the cost of adopting a cat or kitten is $75, and the cost of adopting a puppy or dog is $100.

PCAPS had a successful day, with many of their animals finding loving homes.

“At the moment I think we’ve adopted 15 animals out of just today. And we of course we unfortunately didn’t have too many dogs, but almost all of them have been adopted already, and we just have probably about 15 cats left,” said shelter service supervisor Meghan Cowser.

If you missed out on clear the shelter day, PCAPS is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
