A local business held a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning in Peoria for a new Applied Behavioral Analysis Center for children with autism.
Total Spectrum is a company that’s bringing its services to Peoria after serving for years across the area.
The goal is to have an environment that allows clients to reach their maximum potential and highest level of independence.
“I think health care is local, so we want to have a solid footprint here in Peoria and surrounding communities where families can come, be involved in community activities and services, and let the community at large know who we are, why we are here, and provide that broader reach to the families in the community.” said Brian Dacy, President of Total Spectrum.
Dacy says looking ahead, he hopes to work to reduce behavior challenges and increase skills important to their daily life.
“As a parent of an autistic son and working with the business community, it’s very exciting to see that we in Peoria have a wide range of services for autistic children and families, and that’s growing into their young adulthood.” said Jeff Griffin, President & CEO of the Peoria Chamber of Commerce.
Griffin says he hopes centers like Total Spectrum will help continue the conversation, and help to eventually make employment easier for young adults with autism in the Central Illinois area.
