NORMAL, Ill.– U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) helped in preparations earlier this morning for the National Cancer Survivors Day Celebration held at the Community Cancer Center in Normal on Wednesday.
Davis and other volunteers helped stuff inspirational cards and a small gift into a bag that will be handed out to all survivors on #SurvivorWednesday. The Congressman said he helps out annually as a way to show his respects to the community.
“This is personal to me because my wife is a 20-year colon cancer survivor this year,” Davis said. “Some folks that are coming in to places like this- that are fighting for their lives, fighting a deadly disease, this is the day that they are going to give them hope to join the ranks of survivors like my wife.”
All cancer survivors, caregivers and family & friends are invited to drop by the Community Cancer Center Wednesday morning to enjoy refreshments, fellowship, and reflection to celebrate the day.
