Autopsy results inconclusive, no foul play suspected in death of Peoria man

PEORIA COUNTY - The Peoria County Coroner says the cause of death for 26-year-old Maurice Wells can't be determined yet.

Wells was found near the Illinois River in Medina Township Monday; he'd been missing since March 22.

Coroner Harwood believes Wells had been in that area since he went missing, based on the condition of the body and a review of recent weather conditions. His body showed no trauma, wounds, or signs of a struggle, so no foul play is suspected. An official cause of death will be determined after toxicology results are returned.

The Peoria County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
