Peoria fire officials are investigating a Tuesday evening fire as drug-related.
The Peoria Police Department says crews were called to the 600 block of East Pennsylvania Avenue at 8:55 p.m.
Crews were able to get the fire under control in 15 minutes.
Battalion Chief Clint Kuhlman says, at points, flames were 30 feet high and explosions were heard inside the garage.
Officials say the fire broke out in the garage of a vacant home.
Officials believe there were squatters living inside; a car was found in the garage.
Neighbors tell WMBD say they’ve often seen “kids” going in and out of the garage.
Battalion Chief Kuhlman says initial reports are that the fire was caused by a meth lab, though no cause has been verified.
No injuries have been reported.
