The Better Business Bureau of Central Illinois is investigating what it calls a “gravity defying business.”

Carlton Management Company, Llc. is a timeshare resale company that claims to be located in Peoria. It reaches out to property owners and offers to sell their timeshares for them. However, one consumer using the company wired $1,558 to a bank in Mexico, and was asked for $3,500 more before realizing something was suspcious. That customer hasn’t gotten a refund or heard back from the company.

According to the company’s website, it’s located at 205 NE Madison in Peoria. The picture on its website shows the former Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. In a BBB investigation, a representative for Carlton Management Company said it was located on the 23rd floor of the Madison location. However, that building is only 9 stories tall.
