B&G Club in Bloomington gets approval to expand form council

Local News

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Bloomington Council is selling more than 3-acres of land to the Bloomington-Normal Boys and Girls club for just 1 dollar.

The club plans to build a $12-15 million facility on part of Sunnyside Park, which is just down the street from their current location.

Boys and Girls club CEO, Tony Morstatter, says the current facility has run its course and is too small for the growing after school programs. The new facility will be triple the size of the current building.

“If there’s one thing that keeps me up at night, it’s the fact that our families and our community does not have a safe place for their kids to be,” said Morstatter.”Their kids don’t have a safe place to go after school, so we are looking forward to the opportunity to provide great futures for our kids in the community.”

Morstatter says, the construction date has not yet been finalized, but he’s hoping to begin building the new facility soon.
