BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The City of Bloomington has applied for federal build grant funding to finish construction in town.
The city is seeking $5.3m to construct the final portion of the Hamilton Rd., part of Constitution Trail and pedestrian gates at a new grade crossing in the area. The total construction cost is estimated at just under $7.8m.
The build grant has helped well over 500 projects since 2009.
City leaders say “there has been strong community support for this project, and they’re excited to apply for this funding as a means to finally complete it.”
The Department of Transportation will announce if Bloomington will be awarded the grant in November.
