Bloomington Council Approves Well, Road Contracts

Local News

A Bloomington road will be seeing improvements soon.

Right now, traffic on the Linden Street Bridge is limited to the outer lanes until the deck superstructure is replaced. While that work is being done, the road will also be widened to accommodate a future bike trail underpass. Monday, the city council approved a contract with Stark Excavating for $1.5 million.

The council also accepted a contract for about $1.8 million to build two wells in the St. Peter Aquafier. Officials say the wells could help with the rising nitrate levels in the water supply and drought mitigation. However, they say it’s not a long term solution. Crews will drill one well to begin with. If all goes well, the second will not be far behind.

Residents also got the chance to comment on the proposed FY18 budget, which includes an extra $75,000 for sewers.
