BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — A 33-year-old Bloomington man was arrested Tuesday for aggravated battery.
The Bloomington Police Department said officers were dispatched to an apartment located in the 1300 block of Hershey Road for an “in-progress” domestic violence incident. It was reported that a male suspect was physically abusing a female victim.
The suspect climbed out of a window and ran away on foot after officers went inside. Several second shift officers began to pursue the suspect on foot. The officers located and arrested the suspect.
During the foot pursuit, two officers were injured. One officer suffered minor injuries, the other officer suffered a serious knee injury, the BPD said. The victim received minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital at that time.
The suspect who was arrested was identified as Jared Bieniek. He was charged with unlawful restraint, two counts of resisting a police officer with injury, two counts of domestic battery (physical contact and bodily harm), and two counts of resisting a police officer.
His bond was set at $150,000.
