Bloomington man charged with child molestation

Faces 60 years in prison

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Prosecutors in McLean County filed child molestation charges against a man in Bloomington, who's on probation in a previous sex abuse case.

That's according to our news partner, WJBC Radio.

Bloomington Police arrested James Shields this week. Prosecutors charged him with 6 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, involving a victim younger than 13, between January 2012 and December 2014.

Shields was sentenced in January last year to 4 years probation and 6 months in the county jail for sexually abusing a teenager in 2015.

He faces up to 60 years in prison.

His bond is set at $1 million.

Shields is due back in court May 11.
