A new survey done by the American Institute for Economic Research named Bloomington-Normal among the best college towns in the U.S.

The Twin Cities come in at number 10 in the survey, which uses factors such as diversity, quality of life, education and economics when formulating the rankings.

The report touts Bloomington-Normal as a top college town in arts & entertainment, with economic appeal to young, soon-to-be professionals. Close to 26,000 college students reside in the Twin Cities, most of them from Illinois State University, Illinois Wesleyan University, Lincoln College and Heartland Community College.

Bloomington-Normal was not the highest-ranking college town in Illinois. Urbana-Champaign, home to the University of Illinois, ranked second.
