Local News

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The new Bloomington Police Chief is formally taking the role after being sworn in during Monday night’s council meeting.

Dan Donath was serving as interim Chief while the city was searching for a new one. He says during that time he learned a lot about the job and already has plans for the future.

“We’ve got a great city,” said Donath. “A lot of great officers, a great police department, there’s not a lot of things for me to fix. I’m just looking forward to all the opportunities to engage with our community and make it better.”

Donath will assume the role immediately.
