BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — A Bloomington woman won $750,000 when her Lucky Day Lotto ticket matched all five numbers in the Aug. 16, evening drawing.

The winner, who requested anonymity at the time of her claim, has been playing the Illinois Lottery with her husband for years and handed him money as he walked out the door to purchase tickets.

“It’s the best $2 I’ve ever spent,” she said. “This has completely changed our lives!”

The Lucky Day Lotto winner was at home drinking her morning coffee when she checked her ticket and discovered she won.

“I was in complete disbelief, and I woke up my husband, and he was in shock too,” she said.

The winner said she hopes to purchase a condo in a warmer climate to spend time at with her husband during the winter months. She also plans to share some of her winnings with her children so they can enjoy a bit of her luck.

“This is incredible,” she said. “You can win, and it’s lifechanging. Thank you, Illinois Lottery!”

The winner purchased her winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at Casey’s General Store, 2017 Fox Creek Road, in Bloomington. The retailer will receive a bonus of $7,500, or one percent of the prize of amount, for selling the winning ticket.

In all, players won more than $815,900 in this drawing.
