Update: Board of Education votes to approve proposed live streaming service for math classes at Trewyn

Local News

PEORIA, Ill. — Monday night, the Peoria Public Schools Board of Education voted to approve a proposed live streaming online instruction solution for the 2019 – 2020 school year.

This comes after being unable to hire a qualified, certified teacher in the area of mathematics due to the teacher shortage.

The service will function for four sections of mathematics at Trewyn Middle School for 7th and 8th graders. Last year, Sterling, Glen Oak, Harrison, and Manual Middle School utilized the program “Elevate” to find a similar solution.

Board members call this a band-aid, not a long-term solution.

If they are able to secure a certified math teacher, they will eliminate the use of Elevate.
