The body of missing Wallace O. Darcow, Jr. ,35, was recovered from Kaskaskia River in Shelby County. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police reported finding Darcow approximately 8:00 p.m. on July 5.
Darcow, who is a native of Effingham, Illinois, was kayaking on the Kaskaskia River on Saturday, June 30. Witnesses of the accident reported seeing the kayak flip, throwing Darcow into the river.
Conservation Police Officers searched throughout the week, using sonar equipment. Ultimately, a surface search by airboat recovered the victim.
The investigation into the accident it still in progress by the IDNR Conservation Police.
