BPD arrests Bloomington, Peoria men regarding October murder

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Bloomington Police Department has arrested a Bloomington man and Peoria man for the murder of Trevonte Kirkwood.

Kirkwood was murdered Oct. 30, 2018. At 8:40 p.m. that night, the BPD responded to a report of a person shot in the 1300 block of North Oak Street. Officers arrived and located Kirkwood, 27, of Bloomington. The victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

After a lengthy investigation, Jordyn H. Thornton, 19, of Bloomington, and Quentin L. Jackson, 21, of Peoria were arrested for Kirkwood’s murder. 

Thornton was already in custody at the McLean County Jail on unrelated charges at the time of the warrant issuance .Jackson was located at his residence by the U.S. Marshall’s Violent Fugitive Task Force and was taken into custody without incident.  

Thornton’s bond is set at $1,500,000 and Jackson’s is set at $1,000,000. 

While arrests have been made, the BPD said the investigation is still considered ongoing.
