BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — A Bloomington man was arrested on charges of a drug-induced homicide.

The Bloomington Police Department said Jacob R. Schultz, 34, was arrested and charged federally on Wednesday with distribution of heroin resulting in death, and distribution of heroin. Schultz has been remanded into federal custody.

The death of 44-year-old Bloomington man George Darnell prompted the BPD’s investigation. Darnell died in November 2018. McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder determined he died as a result of a drug overdose.

Back in February, the BPD arrested 35-year-old Christopher Barker of Bloomington on drug-induced homicide charges, also regarding Darnell’s death. The incident happened in the 600 block of South McClun Street.

The investigation is ongoing.
