BPD identifies suspect in June triple homicide

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Police Department identified the suspect from June's triple homicide on Riley Drive as 21-year-old Sydney T. Mays Jr. of Bloomington. 

Mays, also known as "Mitch" or "Syd," is considered armed and dangerous. The suspect is a black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 250 pounds. He has a tattoo on his right arm with the name "Shavone."

The three homicides, and one non-fatal shooting, took place at 311 Riley Drive in Bloomington on June 18.

Mays currently has a warrant out of McLean County for six counts of first degree murder, two counts of attempted first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery.

According to court records, he was convicted of residential burglary in 2016, with pending charges of assault and domestic battery as well.
