BPD makes arrest in Tuesday armed subjects incident

The Bloomington Police Department has arrested three men regarding reports of armed subjects and shots fired around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. 

Bloomington men Derrell Hibbler, 21, Lardarius Carroll, 21 and Tiquan Hamer, 23, of Bloomington were arrested for mob action and use of force with two or more persons.

Police were dispatched to the 800 block of East Washington Street for a report of an armed subject and shots fired incident Tuesday. There was a heavy police presence in the area and police said District 87 was made aware of the situation. 

Several people fled on foot and officers identified two adult victims and numerous witnesses. Officers also were able to locate physical evidence that a shooting occurred that was also corroborated by witness statements.  

There were no injuries during this incident.

With the help of the witnesses and 911 callers, officers were able to track the suspects to a building in the 700 block of East Jefferson Street. BPD’s officers, detectives and the Street Crimes Unit obtained a search warrant for a residence in the block in connection with the crime.

A firearm and ammunition were located during the search. Those items are still under investigation and the overall investigation is still ongoing.
