Bradley grad wins governor’s race in Kansas

A number of Bradley University graduates were making noise on Election Day.

One of those was Democratic candidate Laura Kelly who won the governor’s race in Kansas. Kelly served in the Kansas state Senate representing the 18th district since 2005. The win for the Democrats marks a party switch for Kansas’ governor seat.

Administrators at Bradley say they are proud of alum who carry on the tradition of being elected into office.

“If you sit down and you get to meet with our students the way I do on a regular basis there are students throughout the institution who are going to go on to great things and elected office is a great way for our students to be successful.” said Walter Zakahi of BU.

Kelly received 47 percent of the votes.
