Plane makes emergency landing on I-55, no injuries reported

CENTRAL ILLINOIS - A plane made an emergency landing on I-55 near mile marker 133, just north of Lincoln, Illinois. 

William Farnsley, a 51-year-old male from Austin, Indiana, was flying the plane. 

The plane, owned by Kilo Aviation LLC of Lacon, Illinois, is a Cessna 182 Skylane. The plane flew out of Marshall County Airport. 

The plane was attempting to land at Logan County Airport. For unknown reasons, it lost power and was forced to make an emergency landing. During the landing, the plane struck a passenger vehicle causing minor damage to the automobile. The plane traveled through the median and came to rest on the left shoulder of the north bound lanes. It suffered damage to the landing gear and was towed from the scene. 

42-year-old Jeremy Campwerth of O'Fallon, Illinois was in the vehicle with a nine-year-old, also from O'Fallon. No injuries were reported.

Illinois State Police (ISP) and District 9 Troopers are on the scene. 

ISP is asking drivers to use caution when traveling through the area or possibly seek an alternative route.
