BREAKING: One dead after crash on Route 116 in Woodford County

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ill. - Update Saturday, May 12 at 9:20 P.M.

Illinois State Police say the car Kennedie Vote was driving was hit by the truck that crossed over into the westbound lanes. The truck was being driven by the Washington teen, who was also hospitalized. The teen was ticketed for improper lane usage.

The Woodford County Coroner says 19-year-old Kennedie Vote of Germantown Hills was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash. A Washington teen was hospitalized. 

Illinois State Police and the Woodford County Coroner's Office are investigating.
 

Update Saturday, May 12 at 6:10 P.M.

One person was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash, while another was taken to a Peoria hospital.

A preliminary investigation shows a truck was traveling east on Route 116 at Byerly Hills Drive, when the driver lost control and hit the median guardrail. The truck crossed into the westbound lanes and hit a westbound sedan. Debris from the truck hit a westbound van. 

The westbound lanes of Route 116 at Byerly Hills Drive remain closed at this time.

Multiple agencies are on the scene of a three-vehicle crash in Woodford County.

It happened just before 4:00 P.M. near the intersection of Route 116 and Hoppe Lane.

All westbound lanes of Route 116 in that area are expected to be closed for several hours. If you're traveling in that area, use caution and try to use alternate routes.
