NORMAL, Ill. — For the fourth year in a row, the Community Cancer Center in Normal will be hosting their annual Butterfly Release next weekend.
Each year, 450 butterflies are released to help raise money for the center’s Garden-and-Ground program. The program helps provide a healing center for the center, it’s patients and their families.
The event is free for the community, and this year children will be able to participate in fun activities such as face painting, crafting and getting to see and pet an Alpaca.
“Outside of all the clinical services and support services that we provide, we also want them (our patients) to have healing grounds here…” said Joe Prosser, Executive Director of the Community Cancer Center. “…so that if patients, family members or even our staff want to go outside during the Spring to the early part of the fall, its just having that healing environment for renewal.
Butterflies are on sale until the day of the event for $25. They can be purchased on the Community Cancer Center’s website.
All activities will begin on July 20 at 9 a.m. at their location in Normal.
