Caterpillar Visitors Center gets new machinery

PEORIA, Ill. — The Caterpillar Visitors Center equipment floor just got new machinery to showcase to the public.

This happens once a year so visitors can learn about the updated equipment that Caterpillar is producing.

“You need to showcase the technology of the machine, the after market services that will be available for the lifetime of the machine and also what some of the key features of each machine are,” said center manager Susan Morton.

Adults and kids alike are encouraged to climb into the machinery and see how it operates. The visitors center also offers simulations of the machines operating on the job that anyone can try for themselves.

Something new to the equipment floor this year is the size of the machines.

“These machines are actually some of the biggest machines we’ve had on our equipment floor,” said Morton. “Typically, we’ll fit one really large machine in and then we”ll put some smaller ones around it. This year we tried to go for some really big ones.”

The equipment floor is located in the basement of the Caterpillar Visitor Center and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
