Local middle schoolers learned about the world of STEM on Thursday.
More than 500 female students from 50 area high schools got the chance to experience what it’s like to work as an engineer at Caterpillars Tech Center in Mossville.
Students learned how to make items in the center as well as the ins and outs of careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
Caterpillar is aiming towards these girls because women are at such a low number in the stem field.
“You can see the girls getting excited and asking questions and kind of trying to learn more,” said Rachel Welker of CAT. “It’s amazing to see this really effecting these girls and driving some of them into fields they didn’t know they would enjoy.”
