In the twin cities, one of the five men accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the former US Cellular Coliseum has asked for a new judge in his criminal case.
Judge Robert Frietag conducted all pre-trial proceedings up until this point for John Butler.
Now that Frietag plans to retire, Judge Michael Stroh was assigned, but was met with disdain from Butler.
According to court documents obtained by WMBD Butler said the “judge is so prejudiced against him that he cannot receive a fair trial.”
Butler also requested that Judge Charles Feeney not be assigned to his case, for the same reason.
The courts have until the 30th of March to make a decision on whether to accept or deny the substitution request.
