The McLean County Law and Justice Center will now have a deputy assigned at its screening station. This comes after 78-year-old Johnny Icard stabbed himself with a knife after receiving a guilty sentence.

According to police, Icard smuggled in the 3.5 inch blade through the screening post.

The U.S Marshal’s Service will review the county’s screening procedures.

Sheriff Jon Sandage says they will be looking for any gaps in the procedures and if the screening equipment is sufficient enough for detection.
