PEORIA, Ill. — The Salem Lutheran Church broke ground on a new construction project on Sunday.
The project, called “Renewing God’s House Together” will cost between two to three million dollars.
It will expand the back entrance of the church to create a more welcoming and accessible entry way for church goers.
The work is going to be completed in three phases.
This is the first major renovation for the church since the eighties.
“There’s always room for improvement and as our congregation grows and we’re looking to grow it further we think that this new welcoming entrance and larger space to congregate will help improve our attendance,” said Tim Hickey, a co-chair for the project.
The project is set to be finished in spring 2020.
