City of Peoria to perform a trash audit next month

trash audit

Changes are coming to trash collection in Peoria. Starting next month the city will perform a trash audit. It is in an effort to keep track of inventory and make sure all homes have a trash can.

Residents can expect to see Rehrig Pacific employees, wearing green clothing, attaching new tags and serial numbers to trash cans. They’ll scan it to make sure the can is linked to the home’s address.

“We’d also like people to know that they will know when their trash can has a new serial number. If they don’t notice that there’s a new sticker on the front they will actually be receiving a packet of information on each cart handle on a plastic bag,” said Stacey Peterson, Communications Director for the City of Peoria.

The city is asking residents to keep their trash out until 5 p.m. on their trash collection day until they see the plastic bag attached to their trash can.
