BLOOMINGTON – The City Council is looking for new ways to supplement the water supply.
Council will be presented a construction contract tonight to build 2 test wells in the Saint Peter Aquifer.
The wells will be dug near the water treatment plant at Lake Bloomington.
The city has seen nitrate levels in the water supply rise in recent years.
The new sources could help with both drought mitigation and the contaminant levels.
Water director Bob Yehl told us, “We’re limited in drought situations when we have surface reservoirs, so going deep and getting some ground water will also give us some more breathing room per-se.”
City council will consider the $1.8 million dollar project tonight.
