Congressional candidate talks running again, reining in government

PEORIA, Ill - A man in central Illinois is running for Congress, again, because he says it's important for people to challenge the incumbent.

Donald Rients ran in a special election for the 18th Congressional District after Aaron Schock resigned his seat.

Rients eventually lost in the primary to no Rep. Darin LaHood.

Rients joined Central Illinois On the Record to discuss why he thinks it's important for the federal government to cut spending.

He also weighed in on Pres. Donald Trump's tariff proposals and the recent debate over gun control.
