Bloomington-Normal’s public transportation service is planning to extend it’s services an extra hour on select popular routes.
The Connect Transit Board of Trustees took it to a vote on Wednesday afternoon after holding community engagement sessions and surveys to determine whether or not the extra service was necessary.
“Our customers are very dissatisfied with late service at night,” General Manager Isaac Thorne said. “So we wanted to make this a priority.”
The move will extend some routes to as late as 10:15 p.m. and are scheduled to take effect August 19.
“There’s a lot of our customers who work in retail,” Thorne said. “They get off later at night and they don’t have a way home.”
Now, the Green, Red, Lime and Yellow routes will all extend into longer hours.
